deep tissue massage

Medium/Firm Pressure

massage therapy high wycombeThis is our most popular treatment, especially with customers who have previous experience of massage. For those who prefer their treatments with medium to firm pressure, and who want to feel results immediately.

Excellent for reducing stress, raising energy levels and helping posture.

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle & connective tissue or fascia. It also focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscle.

Deep Tissue Massage targets knots and releases chronic tension often by using different techniques like stroking across the grain of your muscles, rather than with the grain as in traditional swedish or relaxation Massage. Whilst deep pressure on the fascia and tissue can sometimes be slightly uncomfortable, the lasting benefits often outweigh any short-term soreness or discomfort.

By applying slow, sustained pressure via methodical deep strokes, a massage therapist targets areas of the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues.

Deep tissue massage doesn’t have to hurt. The pressure can be firm enough for you to feel some benefit, but not so much that you’re in pain or feel extreme discomfort. There may be times when the area worked on may feel uncomfortable, but it should never be unbearable. You are in control, so please inform your therapist if the pressure isn’t to your liking.

If you play sports or exercise regularly combining your fitness routine with regular Deep Tissue Massage is key.

Regular massages will reduce your risk of injury, improve your recovery time post-workout, enable you to exercise more frequently, and make sure any little tweaks or niggles don’t turn into something bigger and nastier.

Deep Tissue Massage works to encourage the health of both muscles and connective tissue. The main difference between sports massage and other types of massage is the deep tissue work.

Communication during this session is key and the client has an active role during the treatment with breathing and positioning. There is less emphasis on relaxation than with other styles of massage.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning and working with deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

These massage techniques work deeply into muscles and soft tissues, helping to keep these structures supple and enabling the body to function at its best. It can be especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for specific problems such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation, lower & Upper back pain, limited mobility, recovery from injuries ( whiplash, falls, Sports injury), Muscle tension in Hamstrings, glutes, IT band, legs, Sciatica.

When there is a lot of muscle tension or injury present, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles and soft tissue. These adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement or even inflammation.

Communication during this session is key and the client has an active role during the treatment with breathing and positioning.
