What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy of applying gentle pressure to reflex areas on the feet to bring about a state of deep relaxation and to help stimulate & activate the body’s own healing processes.
This works with the understanding that energy flows around the body. If this flow becomes restricted, the area becomes imbalanced sometimes leading to pain or illness.
Reflexology is a way to help locate these imbalances on corresponding areas of the feet.
This is a non-invasive technique and a way to locate specific areas on the feet which relate directly to parts of your body & organs.
It involves applying finger or thumb pressure to specific points on hands and feet. These points are called ‘reflexes’ and they reflect, or mirror the organs and structures of the body as well as a person’s emotional health.
Reflexology is not a foot massage although some massage movements are used.
Before the session
Please ensure that your feet are in the best possible condition to get the most out of your treatment.
If you have any conditions that you are not sure about please feel free to ask as treatment may not be suitable.
Reflexology has a detoxifying effect on the body and you can encourage this by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for the next 24 hours. Also try to rest and allow your body to heal from within.
